Yesterday I called the TECO company about my job. Resultly, I haven't been hired because of my communication problem. That's old problem. Why I need to communicate with customers????? Any co-worker can talk with them for me and then tell me what to do. That's simple. The company knows what tasks are more convenient to me (communication is not needed.) and gives me the tasks. That's what my boss gave me in US. Ok, I understand that it's very evident that Taiwanese companies discriminate against the Deaf. Althought everything doesn't help me, I wish I would be lucky to find a good job sometimes.

I'm saving a lot of money now. I don't plan to go to another country for vacation this year. I'm starting looking for jobs to earn more money. I'm teaching until the end of this month so I can't use computers here at this school.

I don't know where I can use computers to e-mail you and others. When may parents come back here? I need your laptop. I'll find other ways later on. Ok, will talk to you later.

I don't want to work for the EDEN Handicapped Association because the salary is very low. Each month is 25,000 dollars. It's much lower than my current salary at this school - about 41,000 doldlars. I know the EDEN won't discriminate against the deaf but I'm not very satisifed with the salary.

The PO job will be expired this August. If I'm still in Taiwan, I'm stuck and couldn't work there. You have a job for me. How long can I continue working for you? until the fund is paid completely? If I couldn't find a job for some months, then I'll go back to US to work.
Thanks for your support. I love you all.

If I go back to US to work, then how about my girl-friend? Is there any possibility of becoming permanent resident if I marry her some days? When she moves there, what will she work? She doesn't speak very well. She is learning English right now. She works as a senior fine art designer for a famous female magazine called No No. She is 166 cm. She is a nice woman. I don't know what I will do (moving to US or still live here) because of her.

When I work in Tucson, where do I sleep? I don't want to bother your family. If possible, I may rent an apt. How long can I work for you? until the fund is running out or I quit this job? I have 20 more days left to leave this school. I'll still have salary next month because my contract with this school is until the end of this July. However, I'm still looking for jobs outsides. Hope to hear about good news sometimes.

How about your family and parents? I'm sorry for not being together with you guys this July. However, I would appreciate your treat. Hope to see you guys sometimes soon.

We were back safely. Mom is doing all right. We'll take good care of her. Yesterday, a lot of relatives and friends visit her at home. I'm at school to supervise students who are taking final exams now. Next Monday will be our final day, but sometimes I may come to this school for something. My contract with this school is until the end of this July. A few co-workers help asking about job-hunting for me. They're very nice. Also, I'll look for jobs by myself. I'll let you know once I get jobs.

When you buy a new laptop, let me know about the system requirement and the brand. I just make sure...ok, stop for now and take care.

Hsinchun: How was the trip in DC? I'm doing fine. I had an interview with the Plustek company today. I'm doing all right. He needed to see my real programs because he doesn't know if I have potential to do tasks or not. Most of my programs are in my school account. He wanted me to mail disks to him so he will make a decision. I'll telnet back to RIT account to get a lot of C/C++ programs into my diskettes soon. Also, I'll have an interview with another foreginer company next Monday. The position they are offering is WWW home page engineer. I like this. Let me see how the interview is going up next Monday and will keep you posted. I need your HELP. I need Windows Office 97 Cd-ROM. My friend helped install Chinese Window 95 and Office 97 for me last week. It looks like everything is ok but the display resolution is too small. I tried to change the display setting but the problem was the same. Therefore, I wanted to re-install English Window 95 and the display resoultion was fine, but I don't have English Office 97 CD-ROM and others. Yesterda, I asked your good friend Wong for help but he couldn't help me and suggested me to have English Office 97 CD-ROM. Anyway, just wondering if you got Office 97 CD-ROM when you received this laptop from the PC Mall in US. If you haven't gotten it, then you need to call them for Office 97 CD-ROM. also, ask if they can offer Visual C++5.0 and VJ++ CD-ROM. My account number is 0028568921 and order number is P215541100013. The customer service's phone number is 800-555-3613. Hope you can contact him soon. I need it badly now because I couldn't print out without MS Word. When you're done, pls let me know, ok? Thanks. Hope to hear from you and enjoy yourself. Mom is doing fine and everything goes back to normal.

That's great. When I'm done, I'll return those CDs back to you. When you bought a new lapbop that last time, the PC Mall should give you a few free CDs including Office 97, VC++ and J+. I suggest you to try to call them for free CDs. I may need re-install them if I have problem with window setup. I'd like to keep those CDs in the future. If they refuse, that's ok. There may be a new version of those CDs in the near future.

I wish you to edit that petition soon because the Deaf school begins next month. They will make a declaration about teaching positions on mid- August. I wish to deal with the govt soon before the declaration. Mom is doing fine. Everything is back to normal. I'll take good care of them. Don't worry.

  • , 06 Aug 1997 07:32:45

I understand. No problem. I'll send those CDs back to you in a week, ok? because I wanted to make sure everything is all set while checking it out very often.

Today mom visited dad's good friend for changing my petition. Parts of the petition are already modified. It seems to be much better. Mom and I will ask the Printshop for inputing Chinese characters tomorrow.

Today I had another interview with AMAQUEST company (a taiwainese one). The V.P. and I commuicated in English thru writing. He said that the availiable position is technical writer. I answered a lot of questions well. I'm doing a good job. He is satisifed with my abilities and wanted to hire me soon. He asked about my expected salary. I said about 35,000 per month. He'll discuss with the president about it in a few days and then will let me know. I'll make a decision once I get the correct salary. I don't have experience in technicial writer. I don't know how to do. Is it like writing technical manaual on how to implement operations, or a manual guide? What do you think? Should I go ahead to work for the position? Is it easy or hard to do a techn. writing?

  • 05 Aug 1997 09:04:34

Today I got a fax from AMAQUEST. I was already accepted to work as a technical writer. They wanted me to reply him about my decision. My salary is 35,000 per month. I don't know if I should go ahead to work for hem. Tomorrow I have another interview with TREND company. What do you think?

Today I finished another interview. I'm doing bad jobs on the test because Assembly language, windows program, testing program, and C++/C are involved on the test. I almost haven't used those programs for a period time. They will inform me about the result in a few days. I don't think I'll be accepted for advanced interview. Anyway, I got a notice from the AMAUEST yesterday. I was already hired. They're waiting for my decision. I'll fax them that I'll start working next Monday tomorrow. I'll see how my work is later. What do you think if I should continue looking for other job chances while working at AMAQUEST? I'll keep you posted of what I do there later, ok?

Recently I've received an invitation from two different deaf associations. One is to teach English and ASL next week; another is to teach computers this October. I'll get mmore salary else but I'll have to pay 1/3 or 1/2 back to those two associations due to their economic problem. They invit me so I'm willing to pay a part of my salary. Do I do a right thing?

    jingo

  • 07 Aug 1997 00:22:15

Yes, the supervisor gave me some sample technical writings. I don't think there is any problem. Regarding the work schedule, I work from 830am to 530pm every day. I have enough time to get to the deaf association for teaching at 7pm. For more information about the company, you can find the web sit at http://www.amaquest.com.tw. Let me know what you think about it.

Ok, I wrote down the schok. I'll give Addi tonight.

Of course, I'll continue looking for other job chances while working. I just tried to run VC++/VJ++ programs on this laptop, but found that VC++ CD must be inserted before running this application. I did re-install it on the hard drive, but the problem is the same. Some programs work. Some doesn't work. Guess the VC++ CD must be on when running programs. I don't know what to do. Do you still need it? If so, I'll send it back to you via mail soon. Let me know.

Today I went to Amquest corp for my first day. I'm acquainted with their products and found those products are more powerful. They're used for network computing. My supervisor gave me a lot of related material such as Intel and other companies so I can get a general information of what they are like. That's confusing and new to me but I feel some pressure. She wanted me to submit control chart for our products this Wednesday. She is very nice to me and is willing to talk with thru writing. She is our boss's young sister. Another new employee who has the same job position as mine, is White person, from Canada. He and I communicate well in English and are getting along well. Anyway, although I feel pressure, i'll try my best to do. Let me see if this position is suitable for me or not.

Hello, very bad news in TW....it's very very very serious...the CAL (China Airlines) crashed near the Int'l airport in TW last night...almost landed but unforunately the airline flew to the wrong place...hit some houses that are near the airport...it explodedd very loudly...all crews and passagers and people at some houses die....about 203 people..no one was alive...the news last for the whole night last night...a lot of people were very surprised..including me....I was very sorry to hear that....I don't dare to take CAL anymore...

Anyway, I haven't heard from you for a while...don't know if you still have the same problem replying to me or are busy...hope to hear from you soon.

    Hsinchun,

I'd like to discuss something with you seriously. As I said earlier, there will be a new special education school in 2001. It's a great opportunity. They still require 40 credits of special education courses and one year of internship teacher. Then, the Ed dept will have to examinate the person who has the qualifications and then decide whether he or she will be hired to be a permanent teacher at the new school or not.

Last night I met my friend who has been a permanent teacher at the deaf school for more than 10 years. The above information is what she gave me. She said that if you'd like to take special education courses, then you'll have to take an exam for Special Education Graduate Program at Taipei Normal University first. It's a very tough exam because a lot of people want to apply for that, and the dept only choose 10 students who pass the exam. Special Education graduate program is Taipei Normal University's the only program in Taiwan. I know it's impossible for me to pass the exam. Thus, my friend advices me to go to US to take special education courses. I think it's a good idea. I don't need to go for MS degree but just take selected college courses that will be accepted by the Taiwan Ed dept. I'm considering to go to University of AZ to take classes on Sept, 1999 or next Feb. It may take one year to complete. I know UA has deaf education/special education dept. Could you ask colleague to get application forms and curriculum for me? What do you think?

    Hsinchun,

I got news from my friend at Taipei deaf school yesterday. She said the school offers a vacant sub teacher position recently. The offer is one-year contrast. They asked if I'm interested in teaching. I'm considering about it and will response to them by next Tuesday.

If I decide to move to US by the deadline of my green card renewal in 2001, then I'll go to accept that temporary job position. However, I'm not still sure of my future plan. I don't know whether to move to US or stay here. Is my current green card renewal the last time to apply? or can it be extended? I'd like to know to be sure.

Ok, I've gotten to leave now. Enjoy yourself.

Recently I read news from the Taipei deaf association. I found that there will be no teacher positions available in the fall so I couldn't continue teaching..... I'm still awaiting more information about taking special education courses from the EDU dept... Have you kept in touch with them recently? I don't know if I should look for jobs in the fall or not.....

    Hsinchun,

What's up? I recently came back from Australia last weekend. The International meeting was extremely exciting. It was interesting to see so much things new to me. Because each country has its own sign language or system, we use International sign language which has its own gesture to communicate. So, I learned how to spell Australian spelling system, not like American spelling system. I'm fascinated by the Australian spelling system. That's great. As I saw everywhere, Australia is really similiar to America no matter culture, language, food, but get a lot more relax in Australia than in US.

Anyway, I have something to ask you for information. Maybe you have experienced in selling CD disks. My friend questioned me about it, and I'm not sure to answer. Suppose I create my own application on CD disk, and make copies of CD. Then, sell it to others. How should I get permission to sell it legally? I don't know of any rules. If you know, please give me a detailed explanation. Thanks.

Hsinchun, Finally got your e-mail. Your AI account works...it's evident that another account doesn't work...don't know what problem..from now on, you can e-mail me using AI account. I'm still writing Chinese manual..have been struggling against it...will complete it soon...after it's done, I don't know what I will do next else... I have finished with some English manuals very early...maybe I may be laid off or forced to quit sometimes soon...I don't care...I'm ready to go back to AZ any time... How is mom doing? I miss the weather and nice environment there...looking forward to moving there some days... Hear from you soon...jingo Addi already left for Europe last Sunday..will be back on Feb 24 or 25...

    Hsinchun,

Great to hear that your email from AI works... Ok, I'll wait for some system adminstration books from you then. It's likely that I might go back to AZ this summer or this fall...I'm not sure.. I'm learning some JAVA programming now...it's a bit hard..it needs more time to get acquainted with it.

Ok, I'll keep in touch with Hsin Chen often...wish she gives me some impression so my heart may be touched. She's a nice girl...I don't get used to her some ways...wish she improves something...

Yesterday someone faxed to ask if I develop a web home page for an university. I already faxed to ask about my questions...I haven't done any web programming for a long time...I need to review first...I wanted to know how long it would be delivered...also, I don't know how to key in Chinese characters...my laptop is English version...I'm waiting for their reply...will keep you posted of how it's going on.

    Hsinchun,
Sometimes I feel nothing to do at office...I feel that I haven't learned a lot yet...just write English/Chinese manuals...it may not be helpful to my future work at UA..I need to learn something that is related to my future work now...still learn Java...I think it's better for me to ready to leave for AZ this summer or this fall, but I haven't made any decision...maybe everything may happen later...see what happen this summer. This afternoon I'm going to the deaf association to teach computer class. I have a meeting with another deaf sports association tomorrow. I have been busy these days but I enjoy myself. Have a nice weekend. Take care.

    Hsinchun,
I haven't heard from you recently. How are you doing? How was your interview going on at UC at Davis? Did they offer you a full professor? How is the salary? And did you hear any information about becoming a full professor?

Yesterday I had an meeting with the sports association for the deaf... we decided to hold the Int'l bowling champion for the deaf on April 2 - April 7 this year. I'll become an ASL interpreter at the opening ceremony and also take some responsiblities like interacting with other countries who need help. There will be 6 countries attending the champion. They're Korea, New Zealand, HK, Singapore, US, Maucu except for Taiwan. In addition, Kazakstan wanted to attend but they haven't made decisions...hope they will respond soon and also hope they can come down for the first time. I like to interact with them...have fun. I love to help deaf people..it really makes me enjoy myself. I consider not going back to AZ until next year...see what happen...will discuss it later. Hope to hear from you soon.

    Hsinchun,

Have you received my fax recently? It's about Taiwan skillful tournament for the handicapped. I had wanted to attend programming section but I haven't touched it for a long time. I have to review it for a while but I don't think I have enough time...also I don't know what kind of test it is like. I think I would attend English word processor section. It's very easy for me..I'm writing English/Chinese manuals using Word97 at office every day...I'm very confident in the tournament. For award/money, first place is $80,000..second place is $60,000, and third is $40,000. I'm very confident in getting first place....I'm very skillful in word97...I type very quickly, in addition, I know very well about Word97 itself....it's like my manual style. also about English typewriter section, it's easy for me too...not only typerwriter, but I must also answer questions by computer....I don't know if I can attend both sections...will ask the Keelung employee center to be sure...I'm going to get first place to get big $$$...I think I'll be able to make it easily in the tournment..what do you think? It seems that I have a lot of things to do else in a few months...keeping me busy...I like it..except for having two jobs, I have to help the sports association for the deaf for the Int'l bowling champion for the deaf this April...sometimes I help other deaf associations with something...Ok, I love you all...hear from you soon....have a good weekend...

When are Kris and Aris visiting Tucson for spring break? I'm sure Hillary and Hugh will enjoy playing with them. Ok, I need Kris to bring my stuff there from Dallas. I'll send a fax to Daisy to find what are needed to bring, like fax machine, TTY, rice cooker, blanket.. etc. As for books, pick them later. Ok, I'll start update my resume soon...once I'm laid off or my boss may force me to quit, I'll leave. I'm still awaiting for application form...I wish to attend two different sections that I am very skillful. When I find attendant's requirement, I'll know what to do. Ok, have fun on research and business activities.

    Hello Hsinchun,

How are you? How is everything? I'm doing fine but still tired because I have been being ASL interpreter and receptioner for the Int'l Bowling Champions for the Deaf. Finally it was over last Monday. I've stayed at WorldAsia hotel for 5 days...felt comfortable. I feel honor being interpreter at a formal tournament and party..also, a lot of people were looking for me for help. I felt tired but it was worthy. I really enjoyed my job...also enjoyed helping them. The champions seem to be successful. We're glad and proud. I've been selected a vice chairman of the Asia-Pacific Games for the Deaf in Taiwan on November, 2000. I felt very honor. I haven't accepted it yet until make a final decision by the end of this year. You see. A lot of people are looking up me in Taiwan. I don't know if I'll move to US or not. I consider staying here for two more years until the Asia-Pacific Games for the Deaf is over. What do you think? Ok, hear from you soon.

    Hsinchun,

We haven't kept in touch for a long time. How are you doing? How is everything? I'm doing all right. Last Saturday I was invited to to to another TV company for lecture. Only narrator and I on TV but an interpreter helped us at the back. It seems to be good. It's supposed to be on TV next month. This is my third time to be invited to be on TV. Morefore, I've been actively invovled with the deaf community or activity these days. I'm having another part-time teachings at night every Monday and Thursday. It makes me feel tired. I sometimes feel boring at work...nothing to do...just play around internet. I haven't learned much here. I feel they have no hopes on me. I lose my interest at work. Some employees don't talk to me often and talk to a few employees that are close to me. They're kinda unfriendly. I don't care about them. I'm trying to learn other things. It's hard to find jobs in Taiwan, especially deaf people. It's hard for them to promote or advance their positions to higher or better ones due to communication problem. I enjoy the deaf community in Taiwan. They respect me and I feel honorful but I don't feel honorful at my company. Should I go back to Tucson next year or stay here a bit longer? I'm confused now.

    Hi Hsinchun,

We haven't kept in touch for a while. How are you doing? How is everything? I'm doing fine. I've already switching to a software engineer position last month. Things are getting better. I've recently finished a few small CGI programs that are used on our web page. Other programmers are really smart. I saw their programs and almost don't understand their pseudo codes. Their codes are much deeper than mine. I'm trying to go into a deeper in a few months to be a professional programmer. Tomorrow is the last day before this coming Chinese New Year. I'm excited about it. Addi and his wife are going to her mother's place for family reuion dinner next Monday. They asked if I'm interested in joining them. I said no, don't feel comfortable to be her mother's house. However, my good hearing friend Mr. Tseng already invited me to go over his place for reuion dinner next Monday. It's a very nice offer of him. I have something to tell you. These days I've been dating a new woman. She looks ok but I like her personality, especially communication. I really enjoy communicating with her. She is 30 years old. She graduated from Culture University. I'm worried because she is dating another man at the same time. She hasn't decided about which to be her boyfriend until this May. I don't know what she will think. I'll try to keep her as good friend until she likes or love me. How is Mom? What about Hillary and Hugh? I miss them.

    Hsinchun,

Last Friday I went to Fu Jen University, and I has talked with her. She asked me to teach two deaf students next semester. I asked why she is going to run ASL class. She said that each student at the university is required to take a variety of English courses like English Conversation course. Because those two deaf students couldn't hear, they take ASL class instead of Converstaion class. That's why... what about hearing students? They can choose ASL courses as options. Thus, I guess they won't take ASL class because they prefer taking Conversation course. See what happen next semester. One thing I'm not very satisifed is the salary is very low. One hour is 670 dollar. I refused to accept her invitation. I told her that if class is on Saturday, I'll accept. She'll consider about it and will give me her answer by this Friday.

These days I haven't done anything much related to my job tasks. I have already expressed my situation to my boss thru e-mail but she hasn't mentioned yet. I feel my work ability hasn't been respected highly. I don't know what I should do. I'm studying something new to me, like Dreamweaver (web editor). I like to use this kind of software application to instead of HMTL programming itself. That application is very convienent and efficient to use.

    Hsinchun,

I'm doing fine. I've been active at deaf community as usual. I enjoyed myself. I have something to tell you. I read newspaper recently. It says there will be a new special education school in Tapei in 2001. It doesn't say it's for deaf students or other handicapped. I'll check it around. If parts of the school belong to deaf students, I don't know if I should go to take special education courses. The school requires 33 credits to become a permanent teacher. I'll check if there is any class at Normal University or other universites.

I've not heard anything from Fu-Jen University so far. I told them that it's not possible for me to teach on weekdays. I can teach only on Saturday. Guess they may find another person. Should I check with them?

I have 100,000 shares, but the $500 money I owe you is very less. I thought I should owe much more. Ok, I'll get the certificate soon.

It's nice to go to San Diego for one-week vacation. It will be lots of fun at San Diego. Hope you all enjoy beautiful beach. I wish to join but I don't have any annual leave.

Hello again, Just for your information. I've finished creating a new webpage for Taipei deaf association a while ago. It's http://www.cnad.org.tw. Take a look at this if you're free. Additionally, I'm working on designing a new webpage for another deaf association right now. And I'll be creating a new webpage for sport association for the deaf in July again.

    Hsinchun,

Daisy and her children are doing fine. They would visit Singapore with Mom and Addi at the beginning of this June. I must work. I'll have anuual leave (5 days) after this August. Regarding FDD and 3.1GB HDD, Daisy will bring the FDD back and mails it out for the repair. It's under warranty. Also, I'd like to purchase 3.1GB HDD. When she gets back to US, I'll ask you to pay another hard drive charge to the AMS techn. support . You can take them to Taiwan this July. I'll pay back to you when you're in Taiwan. Ok with you? Thanks. This will save me money. By the way, if you have Win 98 upgrades at the lab, please bring it here too. I make a copy of it. If not, that's ok.

Thanks for your -email. Seems you'll be traveling around the US for meeting this summer, right? You're so smart. You have been really my model in my life. I'm very proud of you. I really want to learn something from you. Hope you enjoyed DC. I missed the day we got together in DC and VA too.

Great, you'll bring the HDD and FDD here for me this July. Look forward to seeing you too. Ok, I'll remind you what I need before you leave for Taiwan this July.

I have saved $NT540,000 (including Taiwan stock and my salaries) so far. What do you think about my savings? Is it enough or not? If working in Tucson for one year, how much money will I be supposed to save? same as $NT540,000??

Last month I finished my part-time teachings at the deaf association...about 48 hours. earned $65,000, but donated $12,000 to the association..thanks for their invitation. This July or August they'll invite me again. That's great.

Mom, Daisy, two nephews, and Addi will be going to Hwa Lien for three days this Thursday. I've been enjoying being together with them so far.

    Hsinchun,

I got the paperwork regarding charge card authorization and shipping information from the AMS Tech company today. The International shipping freight is very expensive. I'll fax over the paperwork to you soon. Please fill it out and send it to them. You pay $441 and tax. I'll pay you back this July. I'm going to send my FDD to them for the repairstomorrow. It's under warranty. They'll ship 3.1GIG hard disk and the FDD to you. Then you can bring them here this July. Ok with you? Thanks.

    Hsinchun,

Ok, you just fill the paperwork out and fax to the AMS Tech. You pay for the new HDD order. It's $441.00. You can contact Stella Gomez for information. I'll pay you back this July. Understand me? If you're still not sure, let me know.

I'm confused. You said that you're planning to come to Taiwan on July 29 or 30 and leave for HK on July 4 o 5. You may take typing errors. Should it be on August 4 or 5, right? If I'm wrong, tell me.

Mom, Daisy and two nephews are on vacation in Indonesia now. They'll come back on Saturday.

Mom told me that you're still not sure about what I want to do yesterday. I thought I have e-mail to explain about everything. What you need to do is to fill out the paperwork that I faxed a while and fax them to the AMS Tech. I want you to pay by your credit card. I don't have my credit cards that are made in Taiwan except for US. I'll pay you back this July. Understand me? If you're still not sure, let me know and I'll ask Addi to talk to you. The AMS Tech is awaiting your paperwork.

    DEAR JINGO,

MY MISTAKE THE 3.1 GIG HARD DRIVE IS AN INTERNAL PART THAT IS INSERTED INTO THE MACHINE. WE DO NOT CARRY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVES.

WE STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR ORDER TO PLACE FOR THE 3.1 GIG HARD DRIVE. PLEASE FAX OVER THE PAPERWORK, SO I CAN PROCESS IT, AND SEND IT ALONG WITH YOUR RMA.

I HAVE RECEIVED YOUR LETTER OF AUTHORIZATION. THANK YOU

    Hsinchun,

Thanks for your e-mail. When you visit Taiwan this July, please bring paperwork or books that may be helpful to my future job (at UA) here except for my FDD. Don't forget to bring WIN98 upgrade CD-R and others. I'll remind you before leaving Tucson.

I can go with you and Mom because I have 6-day annual leave after this July. However, I plan to travel to Japan with my annual leave in the fall. I don't want to bother you during the meeting. I can take one day off so I could be in HK with you and Mom from Aug 7 to 9. What do you think?

    Hsinchun,

Last night Mom told me that you had a serious high fever. How do you feel? take some rest. Hope you feel better soon.

I got email from AMS Tech. They said that they'll ship my FDD to you this week. Because you're coming to Taiwan at the end of this July, I can't wait. Could you please send it to me soon? I need it for use. Thanks.

I have new FAX number at home. It's 2423-1244. It's very convenient.

  • 1 Jul 1998 08:23:19

    Hsinchun,

Please send it to me soon. I need it because I'm helping the deaf association design a web page.

I just started revising old web page of Amaquest now. Just revise the context, not the whole page. It's too simple, but I enjoy doing this web page. The third-party company is on the process of creating a new web page for us. Maybe my boss may not have a high hope on me. I don't care. I'll be patient until next year.

So far, I haven't found any girlfriend even though I have a lot of friends. I like a few girls but they have boy friends. I'm still looking for a girl friend. Hope to find her before moving back to the US next year.

Hsinchun, Ok, I'll react my requests to my supervisor later. Now I've been busy writing English manuals. I have to experiment with a variety of machines to keep records of how they work.

For now, I haven't contacted other companies for jobs. I recently read news. It's getting more unemployee rates this month. Seems it's very hard to find jobs. I don't think my company will hire me shortly. If I'm fired somedays, I don't care. If I find another job, maybe the salary may be a bit lower. Anyway, I'll continue my work until after Chinese New Year and see what happen because I'd like to get extra bonus next Februrary.

National exam for the handicapped will be held in Taipei next May or June. A variety of subjects are required such as Constiutation, Chinese, English, etc except for Information Technology. I don't know if I should take it. If I take it, I have to study them from the scratch. What do you think?

Glad Mom is doing fine in NJ. When will she take Citizen exam? Ok, does Linda has fax machine? If yes, I'll send a fax to her soon.

Really, Hillary and Hugh are in school now. Do they like school? I really miss them. I think I won't go to the States shortly. I'm going to Japan with some deaf friends during Chinese New Year.

    jingo

  • 27 Sep 1998 19:06:02

    Hsinchun,

No, the national exam is for all handicapped people no matter deaf people or body-handicapped people. I don't know if I could compete with them. Ok, if I decide to attend the exam, I have to re-study a lot of subjects such as constituition, chinese, and others. Also, it is held on June or July. What about my green card deadline (by May 1999)? What do you think? I consider staying here for two more years. I don't know if the immigrant will permit me to extend my stay?

Regarding the taipei deaf school, it's hard for me to enter the school because I haven't taken any special education courses. Moreover, the numbers of teachers are getting decreased this year. I thought you already knew about this situation. We tried to do my best to get teaching positions in different ways but unfortunately I got no chance.

About translation, it's just an employee's private affair. It's not associated with my company at all. Do you mean when I'm finished a final translation, you'll be willing to correct it? I read lots of new terminologies in his Chinese editing. It seems it may take lots of time to read and then do a translation. I don't know if I will be able to finish the translation by the deadline. I'd like to do something I'd like to do.

I'm already starting to read CGI materials. At the beginning, it's easy but I'll have to go into a deeper later on.

I forgot to ask for your help. I recently found a new Chase Visa at my desk. It was received a long time ago. Ok, I want you to call the Chase Visa to change address. The orignal address is old so you just can ask them to change address to your current address. My account is xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx. The date is from 9-97 to 10-99. Thanks.

    Hsinchun,

Good to hear that you guys had a great vacation. I wished to join you. Have you met Chen (your good friend in Keelung)? How are he doing? i haven't seen him for some years. Has all of his family (parents, brothers, sisters) lived there, hasn't they?

I'd just like to let you know about what has been up at my company recently, I bumped into a senior engineer/boss at HW/SW development dept at the same company last week. I was surprised he is hard of hearing but doesn't know how to sign. He controls over the whole HS/SW development dept. His position seems to be very high. I have already expressed my interest to him. I consider changing my current position, and I have an interest in software engineer. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any position available at this monent but if there is any opening in the future, he'll let me know. He prefers system programmers to work on the kernel and device drivers rather than applications. I forwarded my resume to him. He said that my resume looks good, and he likes it. Also, he said if he knew me eariler, he'd have recurited me. Seems that he is interested in me. That's great. Let me see what happen next year (I hope to have a better job in 1999).

He gained MS in CS and PH.D in EECE at Unviersity of New Mexico. He worked for Motorola for five years before Amaquest president and vice president recuited him last Februrary. He said that his house is still in Chandler. I don't know if Chandler is in NW or AZ. Do you know where it is?

Ok, let me go back to work.

Hear from you soon. I'm going to my friend's house for a huge party to celebrate New Year tongith. Wish you have a good New Year too.

    Hsinchun,

I got a fax from Taipei deaf school. They asked if I'm interested in teaching on Feb. The positions is still sub teacher. I think it may be for only 1/2 year contract. I don't know if I'll have more contract after the contract is over this summer. I love to teach. What do you think?

    Hsinchun,

I quickly received a letter from your classmate who studied at NYU yesterday. He made some revisions on my recent petition, and gave one copy to me. He made lots of good points on the petition. I like it. Wish the EDU dept will be able to accept it. I'm not sure of what you talked... does it mean that they don't accept me as stockholder or restrict my current stocks, is that right? If not, simply explain to me.

I got a copy of letter from another Senator Liu yesterday. The content is not very enough...Mr. Chu's petition is much better than Mr. Liu's, especially Mr.Chu makes a lot of good points. Wish it would help. Alright about co-sale right. You can explain to me later or whenever.

    Hsinchun,

About your laptop, I forgot about the password. I need it to enter the window environment. Please tell what the password is. I'm going to reformat the hard disk and install chinese window 98 because I need to read chinese. When I move to a new apt this June or this July, I'll use it for sure.

How is Mom doing in NJ? The air is very good. There are lots of tree...very quiet. Hope she enjoys the great environment.

Last Tuesday I already begun teaching ASL at evening at deaf association...twice times a week. In addition, I got an invitation from another association. They asked if I'm interested in teaching ASL. I'll have to talk with them in person in order to know more details about it.

    jingo

  • 18 May 1999 01:22:02

    About those passwords,
I'll check it out. I got a letter from the EDU dept today. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any chance of studying special education courses. They still require me to study general education courses first. Then, they'll recommand me to go to any universities to take special education courses. What should I do now? I'll fax a copy of the letter to your home tonight.

  • 31 Mar 2000 15:18:02

I got reply from the Ministry of Education. It's about special education courses/credits. They said that according to the regulation, they require master's degree in special education. They won't accept credit certification (non-degree program). It's a bad news. It means that I need master's degree at UA, but some courses that are required by the Ministry of ED are not offered at UA. It makes me headache...I'll check the UA web again.

  • 19 May 1999 21:31:04

    Hsinchun,

Have you got my fax a few days ago? It requires me to take general education course first, then the EDU dept will recommend me to go to university to take special education courses. What should I do now? just give it up or look for companies or do you have any new ideas?

    Hello again

My collegue suggests me to try to send petition to a new TW president's wife (Wu) because she always takes care of the handicapped people. What do you think about it? I'm thinking of find another way to let the EDU dept allow me to study some special education courses in UA (not degree needed)...Is there any possiblities of studying SE courses without degree?

    jingo

  • 28 May 1999 10:29:12

    Hsinchun,

Yesterday I browsed UA special education dept's web and printed the course description out. Ok, I already asked my friend to get Edu dept information as soon as possible. I'll fax it to you once I get it. What is deadline of applying for NDS application How much does it cost for each course credit? Remember I'm perament resident, no longer International student. If time permits, it's fine to work part-time for you. I prefer concentrating all courses. Wish to complete them in one year.

I'm worried about something. According to the government's regulation, I'll have to become an one-year teacher for internship first. After this, as to become a permanent teacher, teachers committee will have to examine my performance based on my one year of internship teacher. If they don't hire me as a permanent teacher, my effort will be spent uselessly. That's what I'm worried about.

    jingo

  • 31 May 1999 10:50:40

    Hsinchun,

Too bad I won't be considered as AZ in-state students. I think $4500 costs too much for me. My previous tuition at RIT/Gallaudet was about $3000 (per semester/quarter), of course for degree's certificate. I got course information from the Ed. Dept and found 40 credits are required to meet the qualification regulation of being a teacher. However, as my two deaf friends (teach at Taipei deaf school) said, I'll have to take not only 40 credits. It's better and safeto take 45~50 credits. It may take 1 1/2 year. After completing these courses, I'll have to teach for one-year internship (NT $8000 per month) as required. I counted on it. It takes me 2 1/2 years to become a perament teacher. It takes a little longer for me. I kinda don't want to wait for it. Thus, I think I prefer giving up this opportunity. I may find a better job (software engineer) in TW, who knows? or I can go back to US to work for you anytime. Am I right?

    jingo

  • 31 May 1999 13:48:43

    Hello again,

Bad news! I got a message from my friend who teaches at Taipei deaf school. She read newspaper yesterday. It says the government has already cancelled allowance of internship teachers. It's too bad. I'm considering to cancel my plan to US. I'll lose too much money (totally three years of taking courses and internship teacher). The money is what I've been working hard to get over the past two years. I kinda don't want to lose it. Except for your offer for me anytime, I believe there will be some better jobs waiting for me in Taiwan. I'll continue working here until getting better jobs in one or two years.

    Hsinchun,

Are you all ready to go to San Diego for vacation tomorrow? Hope you all have an enjoyable holidays there. I have something to talk with you. I got e-mail from Johnson Yu. He's my good friend (classmates at National Pintung Argiculture Institute and Gallaudet). I'm not sure if you have seen him or not in TW before. Mom knows him. Anyway, he got an interview for internship teacher from Tucson school for the deaf recently. He asked if you're willing to take him to the school for interview or not. Also, do you allow him to stay at your house for a few days? If you don't know him, you can ask Mom. If you can't do everything for him, that's ok.

    Hsinchun,

I wanted to tell you about my work situation. These last few weeks some employees already left the company. Now, today another one is going to quit again. Seems that there will be no future for this company. I have the same feeling too. I haven't done anything related to my job for a long time. I'm just trying to learn something new. They sometimes asked me to do something. That's a simple task. I'm already starting to search for jobs recently. If I find a better job, then quit.

Really, you're coming to TW this July. I'm glad to see you soon. Where will you make presentations here? about your DL projects? Please give me your plan in TW. Just to let you know, I'll be leaving for Australia to attend World Federation of the Deaf on July 23, too. Yesterday I attended sub teacher oral exam which was held by the Taipei deaf school, and there are about more than 40 candidates (all are hearing except for two deaf people) attending the exam. As a result, I passed it. I'm very glad about that. I'll start teaching from next Tuesday on. During my one-year teaching at school, I have lots of time to do something I like to do. I already did some paperwork related to resign today, but my boss is not in. I'll have to wait for him on Monday. I sent e-mail to tell him about my situation, and wish he could understand. I don't know if he will allow me to leave on Monday. Next Monday will be my last day of work so after that day, you e-mail me at my home account. My new e-mail address is jc5636@ms10.hinet.net. Please tell mom about it.

    Hsinchun,

These last few weeks, except for my teachings at the deaf school, I have been activly jogging or playing badmintion during my leisure. I'm enjoying this kind of life way like this. I could do lots of things l like to do when I have no classes. This semester I teach 18 hours, including 9 different classes. They're mostly high-level students. Some students are lazy. Some is smart. I enjoy teaching them. It's a lot of fun to meet a variety of people.

I have only one-year contrast. The deadline is July 31, 2000. I think I have to prepare myself for long-term goal. I don't know which way is better for me..like take some more special education credits, immigrant, etc. If you have any good idea or suggestion, tell me about it. Ok, stop for now and I'm going to jog. Talk more later. When will you and Mom be coming back to Taiwan? next month?

    Hsinchun,

I don't know when I will get married. As a single person, should I apply for life insurance first and then change status if getting married?

Something pops up in my mind again. Of course it's about taking special education courses. Recently I checked with other teachers who are very nice to me. They hope me to go to US to take those courses because one of them will be retiring in 2001. If I complete all special education courses by summer in 2001, then I'll be becoming a perament teacher. Otherwise, I can be a teacher at another new special education school where will be built in 2001. Therefore, I'm thinking of going back to University of AZ to take classes next summer. When you come back next month, I'll discuss more details with you. By the way, please bring UA catalog or Special education information here for me while coming here. Thanks.

I really like a teaching job. It's a lot of fun to do. I don't like to sit at computer desk at a computer company all day. I prefer meeting a variety of people, espeically deaf students. I'd like to do a lot of things during my lesiure.

    Hsinchun,

All of our family is doing fine. Mom often goes to swimming pool nearby. Although I'm interested in a few girls, I haven't found a right one yet. Wish to get it done in 2000. I haven't decided about a job career in TW yet, and will find it out next year. I really like my current job, and I could do anything I like to do like jogging, ping-pong, badminition. My ping-pong is improving greatly. About my laptop, I'll ask around some laptop dealers here and see if they could get it fixed. Ok, I won't buy a new one until getting your reply. Have a happy Millennium to you and family.

Ok, I'll send your regards to Addi and his wife. I don't have any plan to visit Tucson this Chinese New Year. You haven't answered my question regarding laptop. When don't you need your laptop? I think I would buy a new one soon.

    Hsinchun,

A few friends told me about the note too. I have never sent the pretty park file to any one. I already removed it very early. I don't know who sent it out.

Anyway, You don't need to bring your old PC here. Addi has his own PC at home so I use it anytime. Hillary and Hugh can use your old PC, why not? I'll be buying a new laptop in a few weeks because I want Windows 2000.

Regarding special education credits, I discussed with the dept. of ED. She gave me some related information. There are two options to be selected: 1) 26 credits for master's degree, 2 credits each course in TW, is equal to 3 credits each course in US. It means I'll be required to take 13 courses. 2) 40 credits for bachelor's degree, 2 credits one course in TW, it means I'll have to take 20 courses in US. I'm collecting course information about UA too. I have to follow correct courses that are offered by the dept of ED.

My school will be over at the end of this June. Because UAoffers summer school in June, my colleages will take over my place so I plan to leave for AZ this June.

Really, it's great. Your laptop is very powerful. You said Pentinum II? 266 or 300? 196MB RAM is really big. Of course I want it. Please bring it here next month. Suppose I want to install Chinese Window insteaded? or I consider adding another OS for CHinese Window as second booting manager except for English window, what do you think?

Regarding my old laptop, what to do with it? should I give it to Kris? If he says it's fine, I'm willing to pay the repair expense for him because the machine couldn't start up. If you think it's a good idea, don't you mind to bring it to US and send it to Dallas?

Ok, I'll clean up the required list of courses soon and fax it to you. Talk to you later.

I'm done with the course listings. I'll fax it to your school tonight. Let me know once you receive. For any question regarding it, tell me.

Please bring user's guide as well when come down next month. It would be great if you could ask your student to install Windows 2000. I look forward to seeing it.

You said that I can take the 3-4 courses that are not offered at UA in TW. It's no way because I have to take exam first. It's very hard to pass the exam because lots of people attend the exam. Thus, the best way is to complete all required courses that must match the Dept's requirements in US. If UA doesn't offer 3-4 courses, is there any possiblity of taking them near UA, like Arizona state university or any college that the Dept admits?

You mentioned about 8-10 courses that are offered at UA. Give me a list of courses names. I have catalog or can check the web for more information. About the tuition, that's no problem. It's important to have my best career in the future. I have enough money to cope with it. I don't need to depend on mom.

You said I can go there in May. I wish, but I can't do that because my contrast is to teach until the end of this June. I can fly there on mid-June or early June. My colleague will take over my position. Does UA offer summer school on June? What about July?

    How are you doing?

I'm fine. I'll be going to the airport to pick Daisy and two kids up tonight. I'm excited to see them soon. How are the petition going on? If it still doesn't work, forget about it. I have something to talk with you. My female friend and I discussed about going to US recently. Both of us decide to go to Tucson for a period of time this July, and then fly to NJ for 2 weeks. pay a visit to Gallaudet...Her sister lives in NJ. We expect to stay in US for one month. Are you available this July?

    Hsinchun,

How are you? Recently I got your fax. I was allowed to study special education courses at school. That's great. I'll wait for information from the EDU dept...I heard that this school would not provide any vacant position for computer teacher in the fall, but I'll have to wait until this August...

Yesterday I got a fax from my former employee who worked at Amaquest Computer Corp..He quit and owns computer right now..He asked if I can work for him. If the deaf school really doesn't offer any positions, then I'll work at his company for one year, but I don't know if I study special education courses at night or at day.

By the way, I wanted to let you know, I already found a new girlfriend. She visited my apt in Keelung a few times, Daisy and Addi met her. I like her very much..She is 23 years old, and graduated from university this June...She doesn't care about my ago, but her family is very strict and wishes her not to do that. I don't know how to do. I don't care about her ago...we keep in touch thru e-mail or icq every day.

    Hsinchun,

Yesterday I went to the EDU edpt and looked for Mr. Su, but unfortunately he was out of this city until next week so I'll go again next week. If you hear anything from them, let me know. I talked with the deaf school principal about next semester. He understans my situation, and wanted me to wait for a confirmation next month... we don't know if there will be any position available for me or not next semester so i'll have to wait until next month... Ok, when will Mom go to Tucson? how long? When is a good time for me to go to Tucson? Aug 1 ~ 9?

    Hsinchun,

I sent lists of translations to your home the other day. Did you get it? If for any quesitons regarding it, let me know. I checked about UA's course information. I found that there are two opinions to be selected. One is 6/7 school) and the other is 7/10 (second section). I must teach until the end of this June so I'll ask the resource dept or the principal to see if they allow me to leave for US eariler. Otherwise, I can take second section. I have application forms for non-degree program with me. Will fill it out soon. I have 8-day spring break from this Sunday.

I found there is a bit mistake on my translation regarding English/Chinese courses. Will fax it to you soon. Ok, I plan to take first section of summer school on May 7. If my school allows me to take one month off, then I'll leave for UA before May 7. If so, will take second section and then fall semester again. All requirements will be able to be completed this Dec. If not, I consider taking Christmas class. Ok, when should I apply for non-degree program? wait until you come back.
